WHAT IS TRUTH?

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:…” John 14:6

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17

If Jesus is the truth and the Bible is His “word” then how come Christians today cannot agree on Christian beliefs? Why are there so many Christian denominations and non-denominations that seem to teach or see things differently? If Jesus and His disciples all attended the same church then why don’t Christians today all attend the same denomination or non-denomination?

I recently discovered a Christian church in Anderson, California, that believes Jesus is God, but will not believe in God the Father. What? Where did that teaching come from? Jesus, Himself, talks about His heavenly Father (John 3:16, 35). Is anyone reading the Bible?

We all know of the church that does not believe in Jesus as God, but the Father as God. My Bible, the King James Version, has countless references to Jesus as the Savior, the Creator, who was from the beginning and always will be. Even God the Father calls Jesus, “God” (Hebrews 1:8, 9).

One day while our singles group was feeding the homeless, one of them said to me, “I’m a New Testament believer.” What? What right does any Christian have to throw out the very part of the Bible Jesus used to teach from? If you do not understand the teachings in the Old Testament, how will you understand the New? It is the foundation to Bible knowledge. It is filled with prophecies that came true, the most amazing prophecies that cause me to believe in the Bible. It is a supernatural book.

I know of a cult that will not read the Bible. They believe in Jesus but not in His word. They refer to the Bible as an old book that is no longer relevant to today’s society. What? American laws are based on the last six Ten Commandments. The book of Revelation is loaded with information about last day events, and it even talks about what America is going to do with Christianity in the near future. Today, those who are wise (those who study and believe in the Bible) have been able to understand the symbolic writings in Revelation which have revealed the history of good and evil in our world, from the beginning of time, down to the end at Jesus’ second coming.

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CHRISTIAN RELIGIONS? Why can’t we seem to agree on what truth is? Who is suppose to teach us what truth is? The TV pastor? Does Joel Osteen know what the truth is? Maybe Charles Stanley? What about your neighbor who received a vision that told him to start his own church. Maybe this new church will teach the truth.

WE CHRISTIANS DO NOT KNOW WHAT WE BELIEVE! One of these days we will need to apologize to atheists for making the Christian religion so confusing! I totally understand why someone becomes an atheist.

This “Christianity confusion” did not come from Jesus, or His first disciples. When Jesus was on earth, He taught His disciples what truth is, and once Jesus went back to heaven, His disciples’ mission was to preach the truth throughout the world. Even Paul, who was not included in the original disciples, agreed with them about truth. AND WHAT IS THE TRUTH? IT IS JESUS AND WHAT HE TAUGHT.

To get the knowledge of the truth to the world, the disciples and Paul wrote the New Testament. The Old Testament was written by the early prophets and it was the scripture that Jesus loved and taught from. Therefore, the Old and New Testaments are God’s Word to us, and miraculously fit together as a whole.
